Additions:
Choke Baluns, 1:1 baluns, Line Isolators, or Common Mode Chokes are one of the most useful types of balun. They are used for RF Interference reduction on all types of electronic devices, and on antenna feedlines of radio equipment. The simplest choke is the snap-on ferrites that clamp around a cable. The Counselman article below contains a lot of good information about making, using and measuring common mode chokes. Many of the 1:1 baluns on the market have problems and will fail under high power use (despite their stated ratings).
