DropBox Mini Product Review
Do you get tired of carrying around USB sticks with your files? Do you get confused about which file is the most up to date version? Would you like a way to keep the files on your laptop and desktop synchronized but still have access to them if the network is down?? I have been using a solution this problem..
I've been using DropBox lately and it has proven very useful. I don't carry my laptop to/from work anymore. Instead I put the files I'm working on in my dropbox folder and the system keeps these local copies synchronized on both computers. If I make a change in one computer the corresponding file on the other system (or systems) is also updated. Older versions are kept in the system so you can get to an older version up to 30 days old.
I have mine set up on four computers and it has been seamless. Directory trees and Files that I need to access from elsewhere are put into the "My Dropbox" directory and they shortly appear on the other machines. When you no longer need the sharing, move the directories/files out of the "My Dropbox" folder and they disappear on the other systems. Of course they are still on the one system where they were moved out.
You can get to your activity and files on the web as well since a copy is stored in Dropbox's Amazon S3 cloud storage. This makes your files very protected against loss and available from another computer if needed.

The amazing thing about this service is how convenient it is. No fuss, no running any special programs to synchronize the files. It just happens. Even if you edit the files on your laptop while it is off-net, when you reconnect it will update the other systems.
You can set up your dropbox folder on several computers and each will be a copy of the others and will stay synchronized as changes are made, files added, deleted, edited, etc. So you can set it up on your work, home and portable computers and have access to those files on any of those machines. Since it is a copy you can access these files off net.
If you use the link below to set up an account on DropBox it will give both you and me a little extra space. Thanks!

If you lose your laptop you can log into the DropBox website and kill the copying to that client.

The first 2 Gigabytes are free and the charges for space over 2 GB is charged at very reasonable rates. The data is stored on the Amazon S3 cloud which is highly redundant to protect your data. It is also encrypted so others will not have access to your files.
