Field Day Wireless Network

Eric WD6CMU built a DC powered WiFi system for Field Day a few years ago:

.. more info on Eric's

Brad brought a Linksys running Linux one year, and Rich and Alan now have these 12 volt direct units.

Rich has a fancy setup:

WA6FXP's WiFi FD router (Rich's server)
FdWiFiRichFall (local wiki version of this page, with changes)

Very nice, Rich. A couple of comments: (remove these later)

FDlog works well with ad-hoc since it will relay across the machines, so there is no requirement for end-to-end coverage. The problem with ad-hoc is the difficulty of configuration of the WiFi cards (and many are broken in ad-hoc mode).

Perhaps a reflector/shade at the base of the antenna to keep sun off the box. Maybe the solar panels can be mounted on the shade?

Looks like a great box. Where did you find that? I may have a use for a couple of those.
