Mag85 Flashlight

This is a modified Maglite set up for a Welch-Allyn 1185 30 watt medical bulb. The bulb normally operates at 9.6V for about 850 lumens of light output. Flashlight hot-rodders push this to 10.8V for 1250 lumens. This is called a "hotwire" flashlight. Bulb life is shortened but reasonable for flashlight purposes.

The power is either Nickel Metal rechargeables (8 to 9) or Lithium Ion batteries (3). Adapters are available to put the batteries inside the Maglite battery compartment.
