Software Defined Radio

Software Defined Radio (SDR) is a Radio wherein the demodulation is done in software. See the Overview below for classifications and more info on current projects. The Softrock 40 is a very interesting entry point into SDR. It is a single band segment receive only unit that, in kit form, sells for about $10. Something like 5000 of them have been sold. By Tony Parks. One interesting thing people are doing with the Softrock is to set one up for the IF of a good receiver (like the R-390), and getting better performance than the receiver had before.
